Every Thursday during the winter is a Community Day. During each Community Day, we put work aside, and we come together to share a meal, learn, and have fun.
Every Community Day is different. Over the past 8 weeks, we have cooked together, visited nature centers, and kept our commitment to staying active in the winter by taking a walk together. Here is a look at what we did on our latest Community Day.
COOKING TOGETHER
Kim, one of our volunteers, helped lead the cooking for the day. Kim chose the following dishes: Beet-Carrot Slaw with Garlicky Labneh; Tomato, Red Pepper, and Butternut Squash Soup; and Fudgy Dark Chocolate Beet Brownies.
Here are some photos of everyone cooking together.

HARVEST GAME
Working in teams, we played a game to get us back in touch with harvesting for the season. Each team had a stack of vegetable pictures, and using clues around the Murray Building, the teams matched their vegetables to the season in which we harvest them. After everyone finished the game, staff then debriefed the activity and reviewed the vegetables matched.
We have a couple more weeks left of the 2020 Winter Program, and we’re looking forward to more fun and learning together!
