Specialized Volunteers

Have experience or expertise you’d like to share with our community? Want to volunteer but don’t have availability to join us in the fields?

We often need volunteers with specialized expertise who can help with specific projects. In the past, volunteers have helped us with events, administrative work, educational programming, our CSA pick-up, machine/facility repair, and more.

See below for a few specific volunteer positions:

Snack Support Volunteer:

Do you love to cook and prepare food to share? Are you interested in volunteering but not sure if field work is right for you?

We’re looking for people to partner with Growers to prepare snacks for the whole team using farm fresh ingredients – think garlic scape pesto and pickled radishes! This commitment runs from 10:15 am – 1:00 pm on Tuesdays and/or Thursday mornings during the main season, from mid- to late-May through October. This person could come weekly, monthly….we’re flexible!

Sewing Volunteer:

We’re looking for someone who is patient and enjoys sewing to help us repair some of our row cover.

Timing for this volunteer opportunity is flexible, and they should be able to work independently or with a 1:1 support staff.

If interested, email volunteer@redwiggler.org or call (301) 916-2216.

Woodworking Volunteer

We’re looking for an individual with carpentry/woodworking experience to assist with the following projects:

  • building a large mouse-proof box to cover summer produce in the barn
  • repairing one of our outdoor sinks
  • repairing several wooden tables
  • constructing large shelving units

We have some tools, but would appreciate a volunteer with tools of their own. We’ll supply lumber and hardware if you tell us what materials would be best. Or we’ll provide a budget, and you can choose  your own materials and we’ll reimburse you!

Interested in helping? Email volunteer@redwiggler.org.
