Marlene has worked for the Montgomery County Council for over 25 years, advising them on land use and development matters and a range of other issues. Before working for the Council, she was a consultant involved with the financing of alternative energy projects. Marlene first learned of Red Wiggler on a Leadership Montgomery bus tour and began volunteering for the farm. She joined the Board in 2002 and became President of the Board in 2005. Marlene loves the multi-faceted mission of the farm and the sense of community it creates. She believes that there are few organizations that serve such a broad spectrum of causes and individuals and few that so enchant anyone who spends time there. In addition to Red Wiggler, Marlene is a volunteer for Reading is Terrific. She has three adult daughters and spends her free time traveling (mostly to her children) and enjoying outdoors sports with her husband.

Anne is ‘all about the data’, and she brings her highly detailed organizational skills to her role as Secretary of the Board of Red Wiggler. She came to Red Wiggler through meeting a group of Growers who were on a ‘field’ trip to the Jimmy Cone ice cream shop in Damascus one hot summer day. She subsequently joined the CSA, and in 2011 joined the Board. Anne is inspired by how Red Wiggler continues to build the skills and self-confidence of the Growers, and in how they have reached out to support the larger community. Anne lives in Ijamsville with her husband and three rescued dogs.
Jim has served on the Red Wiggler Board since 2007. He is currently in the role of Board Treasurer, and he and his wife Jean are also CSA members. Jim has been an employee with IBM in its federal practice for over 30 years, offering expertise in finance and business operations. In his spare time, he enjoys drawing and painting and fishing with his adult sons in Louisiana.
Katie is a Senior Director of Events at the Advisory Board Company where she advises on the strategy, planning and execution of nearly 300 business meetings and special events annually. Katie previously served as the Director of Community Impact, the firm’s corporate social responsibility program. Katie was first introduced to Red Wiggler through her husband’s cousin, who is one of the inaugural Growers at the farm. Inspired by not only the impact the farm has had on her family, but also the reach the organization has in the community in which she lives, Katie was excited to join the Board in 2015. Katie lives only a few short minutes from Red Wiggler with her husband, 4-year old son, and their cat.
‘Kati’ was born in Hungary and spent half of her adult life there. After settling in Montgomery County, she started working at Leadership Montgomery where she is the Program Director. Prior to coming to America she was a producer and program buyer for Hungarian Television. Her passion, besides teaching yoga, is food and everything related to good and healthy food. She was the President of the Slow Food DC chapter for seven years before joining the Red Wiggler Board, starting a new chapter in her community service. Kati is inspired by Red Wiggler’s mission and is committed to introducing the farm and the growers to as many people as she can.
Cynthia is a long-time supporter of the farm and its values, and is the proud mother of Iya Snowber, one of Red Wiggler’s Growers. Cynthia, with husband Chris Snowber, owns the architectural firm of Hamilton Snowber Architects in Washington DC where their design interests involve not only the design of single family houses, but in creating a connection to the land and surrounding setting. Having grown up on a farm in northeast Ohio, Cynthia has a lifelong interest in organic food production and food sustainability. The Hamilton/Snowber family values Red Wiggler’s strong emphasis on good, wholesome, and delicious food (which has taught Iya the value of good nutrition). Cynthia is creative and enthusiastic, and brings a keen eye to our physical plant as well as to our Programs.
Jim retired after 30 years from his role as principal and founder of HeaneyCougar, a management consulting firm that provided counsel and training for companies going through change. One of his first jobs was working on a truck farm weeding and picking fruits and vegetables. Jim’s wife heads the US African Development Foundation and he has a daughter in college. Jim is active at River Road Unitarian Universalist Congregation. His lifelong interest in developing the human potential has taken him down many roads in his own search for the greater meaning and purpose. Jim believes that the answers to modern business problems and everyday life challenges can often be found by observing the way nature works
Jean has served on the Red Wiggler Board along with her husband Jim since 2007. They were introduced to Red Wiggler as CSA customers beginning in 2004 and still eagerly look forward to picking up their weekly share. Although she has spent many years working in the Health Policy arena, Jean is never happier than when outside with her hands immersed in dirt. The outdoors, music, and travel are a passion. Jean has served on several non-profit boards addressing homelessness and access to health care at the local and national level. Jean and Jim have two grown sons and spend as much time as they are able with their two young grandchildren in New Orleans.
