2024 Information
When: Monday March 25th - Wednesday March 27th, 2024
9 am - 3 pm, including lunch
Who can participate: This program is open to high school-aged students only. (Minimum age 14)
Before registering: Participants should review the Volunteer Policies to prepare for their experience at Red Wiggler.
What to wear: Be prepared for sun, rain and dirty work. Please wear long, sturdy pants, closed-toed shoes (outdoor boots are best), and bring layers in case of weather challenges.
What to bring: Reusable water bottle, rain jacket, packed lunch/snack, and anything else you need to be successful!
What you'll be doing: During the spring months, we're focused on getting our crops seeded in the greenhouse and planted in the ground, as well as preparing our fields for transplanting. Prepare to get your hands dirty!
Cost: While there is no fee at this time, if you would like to pay what you can to cover costs associated with materials and staffing the suggested fee is $50. That payment can be made here.
Weather Policy: Due to limited indoor space and our commitment to maintaining social distancing, Red Wiggler will cancel service days with severe inclement weather, or a weather event that prohibits outdoor work.
SSL Hours: Participants should complete MCPS Form 560-51 to the best of their ability and submit their paperwork to us upon arrival on the final day. We will return forms to students by the time they depart.
