Harvest Share Program

Our Harvest Share Program reflects Red Wiggler’s commitment to equitable food distribution and sustainable agriculture. By distributing at least 50% of our organic produce to underserved community members through our partnerships with local social service organizations, we ensure fresh, nutritious food reaches those who need it most.

Program Overview

Each growing season, half of our harvest is funneled through our Harvest Share Program. This is made possible by blending our traditional CSA program with targeted outreach: 50% of our produce is sold to our CSA members, farmers markets, and on‑farm events, while the remaining 50% is shared through our partnerships with food banks, local schools, and hunger-relief agencies.

By combining organic farming practices with a 50/50 distribution model, Red Wiggler advances food equity in Montgomery County. Our approach reduces food waste and promotes health in underserved communities, while also strengthening our mission of meaningful employment for adults with disabilities.

Distribution Channels

  • Farm to School CSA Program: In partnership with Manna Food Center, weekly deliveries to nearby Fox Chapel and Harriet Tubman Elementary School provide low‑income students with fresh vegetables for school lunches and weekend meals.
  • Food banks and food shelves: Collaborations with Community Food Rescue, Clarksburg CAN, AfriThrive, and So What Else ensure zero-waste distribution to local hunger‑relief agencies.
  • Grower staff shares: We set aside weekly shares for our growers to increase their awareness of nutrition and healthy eating.
