Come as an Individual Volunteer
Do you have a morning, afternoon, or whole day each week to spend with us at the farm? We are always looking for dedicated folks who have the time, energy, and interest to learn about planting, transplanting, weeding, mulching and harvesting. We’ll help you to uncover your inner farmer and become part of our crew of hard working hands, encouraging our crops to grow throughout the season. We’ll help you find your strengths, so hands of all ages, experiences and abilities are welcome.
Individual volunteers are needed from April through October, Monday through Friday. Occasional Saturdays may be available for experienced volunteers. Service Learning hours are available and our younger friends are welcome on the farm, though we require that anyone under 13 years of age volunteer with an adult. Below is a listing of volunteer opportunities on the farm.
Volunteer Opportunities
Field Volunteer
Field Volunteers will work alongside our crew planting, weeding, transplanting, harvesting, and other field maintenance.
Team Leader
Team Leaders are experience Field Volunteers that can commit to volunteering on the farm consistently at least one day per week (9am-2pm). We will train the Team Leader on specific tasks on the farm and then they will lead other volunteers in these tasks. Tasks could include mulching, transplanting, harvesting, weeding, washing and sorting produce.
Barn Greeter
If field work does not interest you, then being a Barn Greeter may be the position for you. The Barn Greeter will help arriving volunteers get settled and direct them to the area of the farm that they should begin work.
Data Manager
The Data Manager will take our paper records of the week’s harvest yields and enter them into an excel document on the computer. This will help us keep track of our season and ensure we are on target to meet our goals.
Produce Surveyor
The Produce Surveyors will take our list of vegetables being provided in the week’s CSA share and obtain prices for these vegetables from local stores and markets. This data will then be used to analyze our own harvest and prices. This volunteer opportunity can be completed off the farm and during a time most convenient for the volunteer.
Event Volunteer
We host various events during the season and there are many different opportunities for volunteers during these events. Our Annual Harvest Supper and Auction, held in September, is our biggest event of the year and volunteer opportunities include food prep, set-up, serving, proxy bidding, and clean-up.
